Magnification

perhaps there need not be any unique qualities about a thing for it to enhance the unnoticed.

no, i find that just by one’s constant presence, the dust gets brushed away. marriage is an archeologist,

but neither one of us got our  degrees, really. we didn’t know what we were doing - unearthing

Pompeii, uncovering graves lying side by side, saying everything by saying nothing - all we knew

was that breath was only found  with each other, and to be apart left  pages ripped. we looked at each other

across the dig. what the hell did we  do, we said. knowing nothing, we dug our heels in at the site and caused even

more damage, no training to tenderly  tread and coax. no lectures on what this  really means to be the witness to

an unraveling and restitching over and over again….
